The resounding defeat against Olympique de Marseille was a real turning point for Olympique Lyonnais. Since this setback, Les Gones have won their four matches in all competitions. Pierre Saga, the Lyon coach, was keen to make amends for this blunder. The latter had to play his role as manager by giving a huge rant at half-time of the match against Olympiakos in the Europa League.

Pierre Sage spoke strongly to his players in order to motivate them to seek victory: “Some people in the locker room are making a fool of themselves because they’re not playing. Well, go ahead, play. Are you upset because you’re not playing? Okay, then play and win. And then I’d say, ‘I have made a mistake, sorry, you will play the next match. Tell me, I don’t understand. Last season, you did something crazy, you qualified for the European Cup and all of a sudden it stops, why? A victory and the locker room is happy! What do you want to do? Being depressed, everyone introduces themselves, does they give their first name? Every day you push yourself, for fuck’s sake. We won’t do anything during the week, I’m willing, but every day, you give me great sessions, why are we playing like that? If we have any respect for ourselves, we have to win this FUCKING game!” A rant which bore fruit since the Lyonnais won 2-0 against the Greeks.
