Notebook

This Wednesday, OGC had the immense pain of learning of the passing of Pierre Alonzo. A great professional, immense worker and man of value, Pierre was a well-known face of French football and the red and black club. He passed away at the age of 84.

At Gym, he led the academy during the late 80s and early 90s. He also served as assistant to Nenad Bjekovic in the first team, before becoming head coach during the first part of the 1989-90 season, then returning to the club as an observer in the 2000s.

As we write these lines, we are thinking very hard about Jérôme, his son, an illustrious representative of the Gym goalkeeping school and a former high-level goalkeeper, whom we have the pleasure of meeting regularly as a consultant.

Our thoughts are also with Pierre’s entire family and loved ones, as well as with all the people who had the privilege of knowing him, on the pitch as a player, on the bench as a coach, or simply in life.

The match against Saint-Etienne will be dedicated to him.
