Hugo Ekitike scored the first goal of his career on the European scene this Thursday in the Europa League against Plzen. The Frankfurt striker, however, suffered a little scare during his celebration.

Hugo Ekitike confirms that he is in a good period. Already the author of four goals in all competitions since the start of the season, including one with the French youth team during the last international window (2-0 victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina), the former PSG striker handed this Thursday evening in the Europa League with Frankfurt.

The 22-year-old allowed his team to open the scoring in the 38th minute against Plzen. After requesting the one-two with the Dane Rasmus Kristensen, Ekitike finished the action perfectly with a curling left foot which lodged in the small net of the opposing goalkeeper, Martin Jedlicka.

A missed slip on his celebration

The French striker tried to slide down on his knees to celebrate. But he ran into an uncooperative pitch and missed his slide, planting his knees in the ground. An anecdotal mishap compared to what this goal represents, the very first of his career in the European Cup.

In this Europa League, Ekitike and Frankfurt will notably challenge Olympique Lyonnais. The German club, winner of this C3 in 2022, will travel to the pitch at Groupama Stadium on December 12 for the 6th day.
