Nathan Aspinall was unable to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Swiss Darts Trophy. ‘The Asp’ lost against Daryl Gurney.

It was a 6-3 victory for ‘Superchin’, but it also means that Aspinall will have to wait in anticipation. Despite barely playing in recent months, he is currently in the last qualifying spot for the European Championship. But Callan Rydz can still put a stop to things. He will have to reach the final of the Swiss Darts Trophy to overtake Aspinall.

But for Gurney it was a great victory with an average of 99 and four maximums in eliminating Aspinall and reaching the quarter-finals.

Ryan Searle also impressed in the penultimate match of the afternoon. He also booked his place in the quarter-finals by beating Madars Razma 6-2.

He won five legs in a row to eliminate the Latvian and finished the match in style. He hit a 127 checkout on the bull to claim the win. In the quarter-finals he now faces Gurney for a place in the semi-finals tonight.

In other matches, Josh Rock faces Luke Humphries, Martin Schindler takes on Raymond van Barneveld and Callan Rydz takes on James Wade.
