A head-on collision between two vehicles occurred Sunday morning on Highway 30 near Candiac, on the South Shore of Montreal. Two people lost their lives in this accident.

The collision took place a little after 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.

Emergency services were called to a head-to-head collision between two vehicles at kilometer 56 in the west spanshe explains.

A section of Highway 30 was closed Sunday morning due to the collision.

One of the two people involved, a man in his twenties from Saint-Hubert, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, a woman in her forties from Candiac, died at the scene of the accident.

Currently, several hypotheses are being considered regarding the circumstances of this collision.underlines Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.

A specialist police officer went to the scene to investigate this morning.

The highway was initially closed in both directions. Traffic then resumed eastbound, but a section remained closed westbound for much of the morning.

Emergency services left the scene around 11 a.m. Both directions are open to traffic again.
