Adrea Cocagi has pulled out the pin again. Facing the Stade Français, the center of suffered a new red card. In the space of 10 months, it’s the 3e on his record. A record which is therefore not clean, and which could earn him a heavier sanction.

Cocagi sent off against Stade Français

For her first match of the season with the CO, Adrea Cocagi only lasted 20 minutes against Stade Français before committing the irreparable.

However, everything was going well for Castres: 20 minutes, 17-3 on the scoreboard, and total domination against a very nervous Parisian team. And while referee Jonathan Gasnier had just blown the whistle for a knock-on, Cocagi continued his action, and sent an elbow-forward charge directly into the throat of Samuel Ezeala. A stupid gesture punished with a logical red card.

A total lack of control that calls out. Cocagi had just returned from a 4-week suspension after receiving a red card (15e minute) last September during Tonga-Fiji (match won 19-50). There too, for a dangerous and uncontrolled gesture. An action which cannot be compared to an accident or a simple act of play.

3 red cards in 10 months

So yes, Adrea Cocagi gives herself without counting on the field. He is an element that monopolizes several defenders during his sharp strikes, and tackles with vigor when it is necessary to ardently defend his goal line. But at 30 years old, he is no longer a novice, and cannot afford to penalize his team so much.

Having been sent off twice during his time at (2016-2020), Andrea Cocoagi has just received 3 red cards during his last 10 months of competition with Castres and Fiji. In mid-December 2023, he was sanctioned (at the 8e minute) for a high tackle directly to the head of an Edinburgh player. Result: 4 weeks suspension.

Adrea Cocagi will therefore soon appear before a disciplinary committee again. With such a record, the authorities could decide to crack down, to at least make him understand that such an attitude is clearly not possible.
