The disciplinary committee of the Elite League has imposed sanctions against the Saint-Gaudinois Racing Club and one of its licensees. The club appealed this decision.

A licensee of the Saint-Gaudens rugby union club allegedly made racist remarks against an assistant referee. This is what was transcribed in the match report, following a home match between the Racing club Saint-Gaudinois and the team from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, on Saturday September 28. According to the rugby union federation, the person was excluded from the stadium and the match was able to resume.

At the beginning of October, the disciplinary committee of the Elite Rugby League imposed several sanctions against the licensee, but also against the club.

No final sanction

The Saint-Gaudinois Racing Club appealed this decision. The higher appeals commission will therefore study the case within four months, in order to overturn or confirm the sanctions. Asked, the president of the club Jean-Claude Estrampes does not wish to express himself on what he considers to be a “non-subject”. At this stage, no sanction is definitive and the president says he is confident about the outcome of this matter.
