Top 14 – Lyon comes out on top against Castres after a completely crazy match!

A week after his defeat in , Lou rediscovered the taste of victory this Saturday. The teammates of Baptiste Couilloud, still a scorer, barely kept away the who came with intentions. Final victory with a score of 40-38 for the Lyonnais. The CO must be satisfied with the defensive bonus.

32 seconds, that’s almost all the Lyonnais needed to open the scoring. From the outset, the Lou players attacked the Castres line before having to accept the video’s decision to cancel the try.

It was therefore the Castres who opened the scoring thanks to a penalty a few minutes later. Affected, the Rhodaniens went on the attack again and scored the first try of the match after eight minutes of play. Ioane was found on the left side and made Gerland stand up for the first time in the match.

Less than five minutes later, the Tarnais responded. Guérois took advantage of the work of his forwards to flatten behind the locals’ line. But this first half was definitely Lou’s. Berdeu was found and resisted Botitu’s tackle to score a second try. The only downside for the Lyonnais at the end of the first period was the penalties. Castres took advantage of the numerous mistakes made by the locals to only be one point behind at the break.

An 8-try match

Same pattern when returning from the locker room. Less than a minute but this time, it was Castres who scored a try that was well and truly validated almost at the kick-off. A good omen to start this second half.

The two teams would both score a try each and stick to the score for almost the entire second period. It was ultimately thanks to Berdeu’s kicking play and a try in the 67th minute that the Lyonnais made the difference.

But the OC had definitely not said its last word in this meeting. Ten minutes from the end, Castres came back to 2 points thanks to a try from Tukino. Gerland was trembling but Lou finally won 40 to 38.
