The body of a young man, dead of a gunshot to the head, was discovered Sunday evening in an apartment in Minguettes in Vénissieux, according to information from BFM Lyon that the Progress is able to confirm, and a murder investigation has been opened by the DCOS (Organized and Specialized Crime Division, formerly PJ).

According to information from Le Progrès, the victim’s body was discovered around 8:30 p.m., in a squatted apartment, on the sixth floor of a building located at 10 rue Gabriel-Fauré, near a deal point.
When the firefighters arrived, who immediately called the police, the young man who had a head injury had died. A handgun was found near the body and according to initial findings, the death occurred a few hours ago.
“Suspicious traces”
Even if the presence of the weapon did not exclude a suicide, the hypothesis of a murder was immediately favored due, indicated the DIPN (Interregional Directorate of the National Police) to the presence of “suspicious traces” in the squat.
The body, partly covered by a sheet and a towel, appeared to have been moved and stains had been partly cleaned.
According to initial identification information, the victim would be 24 years old, but his identity remains to be confirmed. The hypothesis of a settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking is one of the avenues on which investigators are working and investigations are underway to identify the murderer on the run.
