RC Toulon is angry. The Var club decided to attack the newspaper L’Equipe after the publication of an article last week by the media. An article that does not go down well with the RCT. Thus, the Rugby Club Toulonnais saw its conviction confirmed by the Appeal Commission of the French Rugby Federation, concerning its failures in transparency and cooperation and L’Equipe wrote an article about it on September 13th. Except that Toulon broke its silence to condemn this article and trash L’Equipe.
Toulon attacks L’Equipe
The Toulon club decided to trash L’Equipe by issuing a press release following this article from last week. The Var club highlights the media manipulation carried out by the newspaper.
“The RCT wishes to respond to the publicity that the lequipe.fr website heard, on Friday, September 13, about a decision by the FFR appeals committee, in an article entitled “Salary-Cap: Toulon condemned on appeal for breaches of transparency and cooperation”. Firstly, the RCT wishes to point out that in no case has it been sanctioned for a violation of the Salary Cap ceiling. The Club strongly reaffirms that it has always respected this obligation. As for the alleged “breach of the General Obligation of Transparency and Cooperation” alleged in this article, the Club is extremely surprised to learn through the press of the presumed reasons for a decision that were neither notified to the Club nor published by the FFR. The RCT wishes to point out that the concepts of transparency and cooperation give rise to random interpretations by the authorities of the National Rugby League, the Club thus being subject to the variable geometry application of this regulation. This arbitrary treatment therefore continues through such media manipulation. The RCT specifies, as necessary, that it will be able to use the appropriate appeal channels once it has become aware of the entire decision of the FFR Appeals Commission,” wrote the RC Toulon in its press release this Wednesday morning.
