Three deaths were reported this weekend between the ski area of Parsenn in Graubünden and that of Betelberg in the canton of Bern.
In Klosters (GR), initially, a young 24-year-old German lost his life on Saturday following a collision with another skier. Under the violence of the shock, the latter was thrown against a padded signpost. He could not be resuscitated, the Graubünden police said on Sunday. Secondly, in Tschiertschen (GR), the same day, a 55-year-old man died from his injuries sustained the day before (Friday) during a fall.
Thirdly, in the Betlberg ski area (municipality of Lenk), on Sunday December 29, a skier was found unconscious on a slope by third parties, the Bernese police communicated. Rega was dispatched to the scene to transport the 17-year-old Swiss girl to hospital. The latter died on January 3, following injuries sustained after hitting the winch cable of a snow groomer.
The Berne Cantonal Police under the direction of the Oberland Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Graubünden justice system have each opened an investigation to determine the causes of the death(s).
