THE FALSE IGE NOTE

The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, announced, on December 31, in his end-of-year speech to the nation, a series of four (04) laws on transparency and good governance, beyond of the modification of the law relating to the general status of the civil service. But these announced reforms which are part of the implementation of the systemic rupture nevertheless face the challenge of the non-publication of the latest reports from the State General Inspectorate on the state of governance and accountability.

The new authorities are determined to place good governance practices at the heart of state management. During his first end-of-year speech to the nation delivered on December 31, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, announced a series of laws on transparency and good governance, beyond the modification of the law establishing the general status of the civil service which he intends to submit in the coming days to the national representation. The announcement of these reforms which aim to “open the doors of systemic change as well as the windows of national transformation, in righteousness, probity and exemplarity “Jub, jubal, jubbanti! » comes in a context marked by the publication of reports from most public control bodies.

Indeed, barely installed in his functions, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye had instructed the publication of all the reports of the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (Ofnac) and those of the Court of Auditors which were stored in the drawers of these institutions. Something that has since been done by those responsible for these control bodies. Today, the only false note in this approach of the new regime comes from the Presidency of the Republic due to the non-publication of the latest reports from the General State Inspectorate on the state of governance and accountability. accounts.

Placed under the direct authority of the President of the Republic, the Ige’s mission is to inspect all administrative services and all constituencies and to prepare reports with recommendations which have the value of presidential directives. However, the last report on the state of governance and accountability made public by this control body is the one covering the period 20218-2019. In other words, since 2020, no activity report of the General State Inspectorate has been downgraded by the President of the Republic. For nine months, citizens have been waiting for their publication.
