Two suspects were arrested Friday morning in connection with the murder of the daughter-in-law of a mafia boss shot dead on May 16, 2023 while she was behind the wheel of her car in the Côte-des-Neiges borough, in Montreal.

Kalial Nesfield, a 28-year-old man, and Shaniqwa Parris, a 31-year-old woman, appeared at the Montreal courthouse on Friday in connection with the death of Claudia Iacono.
Nesfield was charged with premeditated murder while Parris instead faces a charge of manslaughter.
They will remain detained until the end of the proceedings against them.
The two arrested individuals have both had previous run-ins with the law.

In 2021, the man pleaded guilty to drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm as well as having altered or disguised the serial number.
Shaniqwa Parris was charged with drug possession in the same case, but the charges were withdrawn.
Third arrest

Remember that in May 2023, a shooter who appeared out of nowhere opened fire in the direction of Claudia Iacono, 39, as she arrived in the parking lot of her hair salon near Jean-Talon Street West and de la Savane .
At least six projectiles were fired at the victim, who died on the scene in broad daylight in front of several employees of the salon as well as his sister.
The latter was the wife of Anthony Gallo, the son of Moreno Gallo, considered an important player in organized crime. Moreno Gallo, who started in the mafia among the Calabrians, became a very influential member of the clan before joining the Rizzutos in the early 1980s.
Montreal mafioso Moreno Gallo was assassinated in November 2013 in a restaurant in Acapulco, Mexico, where he had lived for more than a year.
