Science fiction is arguably the most popular film genre on the internet, which is why it sparks all kinds of debate. And it doesn’t hurt to see lists focusing on the best that this genre has given us. As you may remember, every ten years Sight & Sound magazine establishes a list of the best films in history, based on the votes of the most prestigious critics and film experts.
In the latest edition, dating from 2022, the drama Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Brussels (better known as Jeanne Dielman) surprised everyone by getting first place. Today, we’re focusing on the 16 best science fiction films based on the results of these votes.
The 16 science fiction films that received the most votes
As expected, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick is the most voted science fiction film, but the first surprise is that Blade Runner by Ridley Scott does not come in second place, this honor going to Racksr, certainly the most acclaimed work of Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky.
