In a notable intervention this Sunday on the set of “Point de vue”, the flagship program of the RTS, Doudou Wade, former boss of the PDS Liberals in the National Assembly, delivered an uncompromising analysis of the current political situation in Senegal.

The veteran of the Senegalese political scene did not mince his words, vigorously denouncing the cancellation of the budgetary orientation debate by the office of the National Assembly. “This is a serious mistake,” he insisted, believing that this decision deprives deputies of their crucial monitoring role.

Wade also pointed to the growing tensions between the executive and the legislature, calling for urgent dialogue to preserve the proper functioning of institutions. “We cannot put our institutions in the informal sector,” he warned, particularly targeting the recent declarations of the Prime Minister which he considers “catastrophic”.

The deputy did not spare his own camp, directly addressing the internal difficulties of the PDS. He notably mentioned the controversy surrounding recent appointments within the party, leaving doubt about the real involvement of President Abdoulaye Wade in these decisions.

True to his reputation as an experienced politician, Doudou Wade delivered a nuanced analysis of the challenges facing the new government. While acknowledging the difficulty of the task, he called on the new leaders to remain calm and focus on the country’s concrete problems.
