Former MP and president of the Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds) group, Doudou Wade discusses the debate on the General Policy Declaration (Dpg) of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
Doudou Wade immediately acknowledges that there is something wrong with the current internal regulations of the National Assembly, Mr. Wade gives ideas to resolve the problem in four (4) days. “The deputies of Yewwi Askan Wi, but they are right to say that the General Political Declaration cannot be made in the current state of the situation of the National Assembly which, in its internal regulations, no longer has any provision relating to the Prime Minister,” he agreed, in an interview with L’OBS.

» In 2019, by law, all provisions relating to the Prime Minister were subtracted from its internal regulations. Then, the Constitution was revised to bring back the Prime Minister and the appointment of Amadou Ba in 2022,” he adds.
How to fix this problem?

Doudou Wade explores possible solutions: “The deputies of Yewwi Askan Wi can, tomorrow Thursday (today), make a bill and study it next Monday. I will be told that Monday is the end of the session, but the deputies can call a special session for the following Monday. We close the Assembly on Saturday and on Monday we go into extraordinary session. I hope that they will agree to modify the internal regulations and give themselves the powers devolved to any Assembly. We undressed them, I hope they will agree to put on their clothes. They can do the work in four (4) days and send it back to the President of the Republic. »
He added: “They should not hide behind the current situation because it is not insurmountable. Even if it is not possible, they have the duty to be able. If they want to fulfill their mission as representatives of the people, they must convene the extraordinary session. Indeed, in articles 97 and 98 of the internal regulations of the Assembly, there is the Declaration of General Policy, but it is false. And the question is, who did it? When was it done?”
