The King of Morocco Mohammed VI ordered, on Monday, the sending of 40 tons of medical equipment to the Palestinians in Gaza.

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement, consulted by Anadolu, that “the aid consists of 40 tons of medical equipment and includes equipment for the treatment of burns, emergency surgical operations, orthopedic care and fractures, as well as basic medications.

The ministry stressed that “these medical materials are intended for adults, as well as children.”

“The King of Morocco, president of the Al-Quds Committee (affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), kindly financed a large part of this aid with his own money,” we read from the same source.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Moroccan aid will be delivered via the Abou Karm Salem crossing, the same route used during the food aid delivery process during the last month of Ramadan.

The same source stressed that “these large-scale humanitarian operations for the benefit of the Palestinian population confirm the commitment of the King of Morocco to the Palestinian cause.”

The King of Morocco had previously ordered, during last Ramadan, to send humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and the city of Jerusalem.

Since October 7, nearly 37,600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, mostly women and children, and more than 86,000 others have been injured, according to local health authorities.

More than eight months after the start of Israel’s war, large swaths of Gaza lie in ruins amid a blockade crippling access to food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately suspend its military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians had sought refuge before its invasion on May 6.
