Return to normal at Montreal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport after an alleged suspicious package was detected Monday in the baggage carousel at the airport’s international arrivals level.
All travelers and employees in a sector of the terminal at the international arrivals level were previously evacuated as a preventive security measure, indicates Anne Marcotte, director of public relations at Montreal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport.
The return to normal was announced around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.
The evacuation perimeter prevented border control of passengers. As a result, several flights were diverted to other airports.
All Monday evening flights to Montreal saw their landings delayed or diverted (New window) as a security measure, as could be seen on the Montreal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport website.
The teams from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) and ADM airport security worked in close collaboration, underlines Ms. Marcotte, before indicating that “the alert was ultimately unfounded”.
