Geneva: Head-on collision between a motorcyclist and a car

There was “a big crash. A motorcyclist in his sixties was hit head-on by a Mercedes with Geneva plates which did not stop.” It is with these words that a reader-reporter describes the accident which occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday, at 9 p.m., route de Marsillon, in Troinex (GE). The police confirm: “For a reason that the investigation will have to determine, a head-on collision occurred between a motorcyclist traveling in the direction of Vessy and a car traveling in the opposite lane.”

The spokesperson, Alexandre Brahier indicates that the motorcyclist, aged 60, was “violently thrown to the ground”. Following the impact, his heated motorcycle gloves caught fire, a “very rare” phenomenon, according to the communicator. “Passers-bys came to his aid and managed to put out the start of the fire.” The victim was seriously injured but his life prognosis is not in jeopardy.

The driver of the car fled. An investigation has been opened. The technical vehicle search group was mobilized. Relying on debris, testimonies or even video surveillance images, the GTRV has a high success rate. “They are very effective in tracing the vehicles involved,” emphasizes Alexandre Brahier.

Note that after being interrupted for a moment, traffic was able to resume.
