Eyal Golan lost his sister – and all faith in human goodness. “Shirel was the light of our life,” he tells us, puffing on a cigarette he has just rolled. “But that light went out. » This 36-year-old man’s eyes light up when he talks about his younger sister. He distinctly pronounces each syllable of his first name, a name which, translated from Hebrew, means “song of praise to God”. But where was God on October 20?

“All we have left are memories,” he continues. The memory of a young woman full of life, who could spend entire nights dancing. The memory of a loving aunt, who never missed an opportunity to play with her niece. Not to mention her long blonde hair, her tattoos, and the birthday parties at the family home near Tel Aviv.
