The Madame Chose restaurant, located in the former Galeries gourmandes of the Galeries de la Capitale, will close its doors permanently at the end of the year.
This was the last bastion of the Galeries gourmandes, launched with great fanfare in 2019.
“We developed this brand specifically to meet the needs of the Galeries Gourmandes ecosystem at Galeries de la Capitale. The concept took on its full meaning in this environment centered on proximity to producers and the customers that this market was supposed to attract. However, the Galeries Gourmandes project did not have the success hoped for,” indicated Pierre Moreau, president of the Restos Plaisirs division, which operates Madame Chose, in a press release.
The last day of operation of the Restos Plaisirs group restaurant, which required investments of $4M, will be December 31.
Around ten new restaurants in 2025
« […] As our lease ends this year, we have made the decision not to renew it in order to concentrate our efforts on our other concepts. Next year, nearly a dozen new restaurants will open under our flagship brands, including Cochon Dingue, Chez Lionel, Iru Izakaya and Brasseurs du Monde […]», adds Mr. Moreau.

The last business had also left
The other and final business that was holding up, the company Les Cochons tout ronds, specializing in fine charcuterie, also left the Galeries gourmandes last July.
Owner Bruno Mathey indicates that his counter was no longer profitable and that Galeries de la Capitale did not renew its lease last summer.
Ricardo moved
Remember that the Ricardo space, which housed a restaurant and a boutique in the Galeries gourmandes, recently moved near the Simons store.
The Canadian retailer Winners will open its doors in the fall of 2025 in this space left vacant by Ricardo.
It was not possible to know what will occupy the vast Madame Chose restaurant, with 170 seats. The colorful decor of this restaurant was designed by the designer and director, Olivier Dufour.
Contacted by Le Journal, neither Mr. Moreau nor the management of Galeries de la Capitale wished to answer our questions.
