Notice of strike in the Walloon civil service for November 14

UA strike notice was filed in the Walloon civil service for November 14 following measures taken by Jacqueline Galant, minister in charge. This notice concerns the SPW (public service of Wallonia) but also the UAP (Public Administration Unit). The community civil service could follow and strike on November 22 but this will only be decided this Friday. These dates are not due to chance since on November 14 a sector committee 16 must take place in Namur and on November 22 a sector committee 17 in Brussels.

Main grievance of civil servants: Jacqueline Galant’s reform and the abolition of the status. “It is poorly perceived because it arrives abruptly,” explains the CGSP delegate, Stéphane Jaumonet. “We are asking the public service for savings. However, the status costs less, at least in the SPW (-18%). It ensures the equality of citizens and allows them to work without threat. I remind you that this is the way democracy responded to the REX threat in the 1930s. We want to transform our administrations into the armed arms of our policies. And it’s wrong to say that a civil servant is indestructible: two negative evaluations and he’s out! »

Maintaining status is not the only reason. “The minister lied to us by omission by telling us that as long as the decree was not passed, the status files were continuing their course. However, we came across green notes in which she prohibited the administration from recruiting statutory staff. » Stéphane Jaumonet finally points out the non-replacement of retired civil servants. “Critical missions must be fulfilled by the State. When a civil servant who carries out these missions retires, he must be replaced. As for the other missions, they will be completed less quickly. If there are fewer people in the building permit department, it will lengthen the time it takes to obtain the permit. » And intra-service travel will not solve everything, according to Stéphane Jaumonet. “This has already been done. There is already a shortage of staff! We are a few years late in replacing staff. » Contacted by The eveningMinister Jacqueline Galant did not want to react “at this stage”.
