The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) first reports that a report was received Thursday concerning a pin found in a mini bar of the “Kit-Kat” brand in the Beauport sector, in Quebec.
The chocolate bar would have been harvested in one of the following streets: Louis-Philippe Roy, Tardif and Avenue des Sablonnières.
This situation would not be an isolated case, as the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) reported that a needle was found in a chocolate bar on Thursday evening in the Vieux-Longueuil sector.
“The child, having been vigilant, was not injured, because the needle was found before consuming the chocolate bar,” mentions the SPAL in a press release.
Needles found everywhere in Quebec
A video shared on Facebook by a mother from Lévis shows a needle in a Kit-Kat which would have been collected Thursday during Halloween in the Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon sector.
The woman said she filed a complaint with the Lévis police.
Other scandalized families living across the province shared similar images.
Needles were also found in Kit-Kats in Stoneham, Val-des-Sources in Estrie and Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade in Mauricie.
For its part, the SPVQ affirms that an investigation is underway into this phenomenon and recalls “the importance of examining candy before consumption and reporting to the Police Department if a similar object is found in a candy.”
Authorities are asking citizens who experience a similar situation to call 911.
“To transmit information that will be treated confidentially, dial 418 641-AGIR (2447) and for people outside Quebec City, 1 888 641-AGIR, toll-free throughout America of the North,” concludes the SPVQ.
