An American family living in Englewood, Colorado (United States), has been trying since mid-September 2024 to repatriate the father, hospitalized in Denmark after contracting a « super virus ». The 64-year-old man developed this disease during a cruise in Europe with his wife, on the occasion of their 37th wedding anniversary, the media reported on October 13. As the couple’s daughter recounted, her father started feeling unwell six days into the cruise. Although he thought he was suffering from a simple flu, his condition quickly deteriorated. “They found that he had influenza A, pneumonia and sepsis, which turned into a super virus inside his body and started attacking his major organs”detailed the young woman.
A $150,000 repatriation
According to his family, the sixty-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest, suffered from lung failure and suffered brain damage. “Today he is still on a ventilator, but it only works at 25%, and (his father) is not fully conscious”according to his daughter.
Despite everything, his condition would allow him to take the plane and be repatriated to the United States, but under conditions.
