Essonne: a 13-year-old schoolboy brandishes a butcher’s knife and threatens a friend

The scene seems surreal given the age of the author. A 13-year-old schoolboy was arrested after showing off a butcher knife and threatening to kill one of his classmates. He also filmed himself with the gun and sent a threatening video to his class. He was immediately taken into custody.

The facts occurred near the Paul-Eluard college, in Évry-Courcouronnes (Essonne), this Friday, October 18. According to the information brought to our attention, it was the principal of the college who alerted the police during the afternoon.

A fifth grade student, armed with a long knife and threatening another teenager, was apparently disarmed by passers-by at Place de la Commune, very close to the establishment. When they arrived, the police arrested the alleged perpetrator and interviewed the victim (also 13 years old). The two know each other and are even friends.

According to the victim’s account, an argument broke out between them earlier in the day. The teenager with the knife then filmed himself, showing the weapon in his bag, threatening to kill his friend. Video that he then sent to his class WhatsApp group, causing concern among other students… and an alert to the college management.

The 13-year-old boy then allegedly carried out his threats early in the afternoon with this scene of violence at Place de la Commune, where he was finally arrested. Placed in police custody at the Évry-Courcouronnes police station, the young suspect allegedly admitted the facts, claiming that he wanted to “scare” the other student.

He was finally the subject of a “summons to appear before a children’s judge within three months”, reports the Évry public prosecutor’s office. The teenager is being prosecuted for “threats with a weapon”.

Asked by us, the first deputy mayor Medhy Zeghouf reacted: “Obviously we condemn [ces faits] with the greatest firmness. Violence has no place in our city and even less in or around educational establishments which must remain sanctuaries. »

The elected official also welcomes the behavior of the schoolboy, who reported the author of the threats and denounced them to the college management: “He did well,” emphasizes Medhy Zeghouf. This was immediately taken into account by the teams on site which I salute, since a police team was dispatched to the scene and arrested (…) the suspect. »
