Popular discontent is growing in Fribourg. Long conciliatory, the supporters of Gottéron are beginning to show their first signs of discontent after the spanking received by their favorite team Friday on the ice of Lausanne (6-0). The Dragons, thirteenth in the National League with 8 small points in 10 matches, remain on 4 defeats in a row. Too much for part of the public.

When they arrived at the BCF Arena after the setback conceded in Lausanne, they were greeted by two virulent banners. “A public in mourning for a team without pride” and “Players, coaches, managers: all responsible”, it was written. The revolt was also organized on social networks.

An Internet user decided to create a Facebook group to demand the reinstatement of Christian Dubé just after the setback conceded on Friday at the Vaudoise arena. Entitled “For a return of Christian Dubé”, it already has more than fifty members.

“So that Christian Dubé returns to the bench as head coach of Gottéron and that we give him carte blanche! The only one who had a real project for this team,” wrote the founder of the group by way of description.

An anonymous participant launched the following survey: “What do you want for our club?” The four answer choices were: Return of Christian Dubé, No change, Other coach, Resignation of Gerd Zenhäusern. At the time of writing these lines, the departure of the current sports director garners 53% of the votes, compared to 36% for the return of the former coach.

The number of voters being very low compared to that of the club’s supporters, this survey does not allow any conclusions to be drawn. Nevertheless, the disagreement between a segment of the public and the Fribourg-Gottéron strategy is perceptible.

One question remains: is a hypothetical return of Christian Dubé, dismissed from office in May, credible? While he’s likely committed to a team he built and still under contract, it seems unlikely. Unless there’s a big sack.
