Two new figures are entering a Chadian government for the first time, following a slight reshuffle announced this Saturday, October 12.

The government led by Ambassador Allah-Maye Halina underwent a readjustment a few weeks after the vacancy of the position at the Ministry of the Environment. To fill this void, the President of the Chadian Republic, Mahaman Idriss Deby Itno has appointed a new official to head this strategic ministry.

By a decree published this Saturday, Hassan Bakhit Djamous, current deputy director general of taxes, was appointed Minister of the Environment. Aged only 31, he becomes one of the youngest members of the executive. He succeeds Dr Idriss Saleh Bachar, who was recently promoted to the position of Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet of the President of the Republic, on September 27, 2024.

At the same time, another important change was made at the Ministry of Public Security and Immigration. Mahamat Charfadine Margui, until then holder of this portfolio, was ousted. He is replaced by Lieutenant General Ali Ahmat Akabach, former deputy chief of staff, now in charge of this highly sensitive department.

These two new personalities, close to the Head of State, are thus making their first entry into government, marking a turning point in the current political dynamic.
