On the occasion of National Women’s Day, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) published number 31 of the “Plan Briefs” on Moroccans’ perceptions of gender equality.

According to the survey, 58.4% of Moroccans believe that there is no equality between the sexes, an opinion more pronounced in rural areas (65.8%) than in urban areas (52.4%). .

Young people aged 18 to 29 are the most sensitive to this question (63.6%), while older people are more reserved.

The report highlights disparities in access to employment and salaries, as well as broad opposition (86.8%) to parity in inheritance, even among women (81.4%).

Education and employment are considered priority levers for promoting gender equality.
