They are suspected of having, on April 27 in Paris, led an ambush and stolen the luxury watch of a player from the Auxerre (Yonne) football team.
That day, this Franco-Ivorian sportsman, Clément Akpa, went to a meeting in the 14th arrondissement with the aim of selling his beautiful Rolex watch, estimated at around 10,000 euros. “Contact was made via the Internet or the networks for the sale of the precious gold toquante,” explains a source close to the case. But when the athlete enters a building, he is surprised by a group of strangers who threaten him and force him to hand over the object of their desire. “He did not put up any resistance for fear of being injured,” adds our source. After his mishap, the left-back went to the police station to file a complaint.
Investigators from the third judicial police district are responsible for carrying out the investigations. The police used telephone data and video surveillance images before identifying this small team of thieves from the 14th arrondissement. On Tuesday, they launched an operation and arrested each of these men at their homes. During the searches, the agents were unable to find the famous watch. “It was certainly resold quickly,” specifies a source close to the matter.

The young suspects are placed in police custody on Avenue du Maine before being questioned. One of them confessed. The other three deny any involvement. “They are fairly established young people,” adds a source close to the matter. It’s not a gang, it’s friends who found this method of making money easy.”
