Shot and wounded at the end of April in the Landes region after a marital dispute under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, the singer Kendji Girac has announced a new song, “Si seulement”, which he found “deep in his heart”, dedicated to his audience.

The song will be available Thursday night at midnight, he says on his Instagram account.

“Forgive me if I preferred to destroy myself/even if it meant risking damaging my empire/on the stage I left my smile, my smile,” he sings, in an extract of a few seconds already revealed.

The song was written by Vianney and composed by Renaud Rebillaud and Vianney, it is specified on his account.

“I am very moved to announce that I am finally back, I missed it,” he said in a video posted Thursday on the same network. “I took the time to work on a beautiful song, to search deep in my heart, to want to say what I wanted to say, from the depths of my soul.”

“I made this song just for you, it’s the first time I’ve addressed you informally in this song because you’re my audience who’ve been there for ten years. I had to make a song just for you,” he confides.

Kendji Girac was hospitalized on April 22 near Bordeaux for a serious gunshot wound to the chest. According to tests, he was heavily intoxicated, with more than 2.5 grams per liter of blood, and had consumed cocaine during an evening and a night of partying, during which he had notably gone to the casino with friends.

The 27-year-old singer had initially claimed he had wanted to “fake suicide” after a domestic dispute before changing his version of events. The proceedings were dismissed.

At the end of June, the singer of “Color Gitano” publicly apologized in a video on Instagram, saying he regretted it, admitting to having “picked up bad habits”, having “entered a spiral”, and now aspiring to “become the boy again” he was.
