Fredrik Lindgren, the original guitarist for Swedish death metal band Unleashed, has died at the age of 54. Lindgren played with the band between 1989 and 1995, contributing to the band's iconic first four albums: Where No Life Dwells, Shadows In The Deep, Across The Open Sea et Victory.
A career marked by Unleashed and other musical projects
Fredrik Lindgren was an important figure in the Swedish death metal scene. Besides his time with Unleashed, he also played in bands like Terra Firma and Atlantic Tide, expanding his influence beyond traditional death metal.
Unleashed, one of the pioneers of Swedish death metal, praised Fredrik's impact on the band's history. In a message shared on their social networks, the members expressed their sadness and gratitude towards their former colleague: “Unfortunately, we have learned that Fredrik Lindgren, guitarist for Unleashed from 1989 to 1995, has left us. Fredrik played a huge role in the history of the group. For this, we are eternally grateful to him. See you in Valhalla, brother! Johnny & The Boys.”
