Weird. We can no longer count the compilations that have documented the sixties garage-rock-pop scenes around the world, from the USA to Great Britain via the Netherlands and Greece. Yet our country has remained largely aloof from the internal exploration towards the Farfisa incunabula for guitars and organ. Let’s mention the delicious O Toi Beatnikthe sparkling Whizzz from Born Bad and finally, published a little over twenty years ago, the series Pop in Paris, imagined by the former guitarist of Bijou, Vincent Palmer, and produced by Jean-Pierre Haie. These five albums are now reissued and, oh joy, accompanied by three other unpublished volumes devoted in particular to the nuggets of the 70s. A long work where alongside a classic, but indestructible 7 a.m. by Jacqueline Taïeb, there are many discoveries: delicious the zipper of Delphine, passing through the psyche Epitathe pour Brian Jones by Jean-Michel Caradec or peace & love Flower Power by the future bard Alan Stivell. Between carefreeness, rebellion (May 68 obliges) and humor, a journey from another time which is well worth the detour.
