In 2022, Freida McFadden signs a gripping suspense thriller, “The Maid”. Readers immerse themselves in the wanderings of Millie, a young woman who has just been released from prison. The latter works as a housekeeper for the Winchesters, a wealthy New York family. Events quickly take another turn when many buried secrets resurface. A situation which does not help his relationship with his boss, Nina Winchester, an unstable and toxic woman. A rumor circulates in the neighborhood that Nina tried to murder her own daughter. Millie is even more troubled as she develops feelings for her boss. But appearances seem more deceptive than they appear.

The bestseller has conquered social networks and in particular TikTok where on BookTok it has more than 18 million mentions. An enthusiasm from readers explained by the fascination they maintain for the psychological intrigues and the mysteries developed in the work.

A star-studded cast

Given the public's enthusiasm for the novel, a film adaptation by Paul Feig is in development by the production company Lionsgate. To play the duo of Millie and Nina, it will be the tandem of eminent actresses Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried known for their roles in “Euphoria” and “Lolita Despite Me”. Actors Michèle Morrone (“365 Days”) and Brandon Sklenar (“Never Again”) are also part of the cast of this future production.

However, you will have to be patient before seeing the film in theaters. Filming will take place from December 2024 until February 2025, its release date is still unknown. To satisfy readers' impatience, an Instagram account for the film, @housemaidmovie, was set up to chronicle the progress of the feature film.
