Since the start of the end-of-year holiday period, the situation in Haute-Savoie has been difficult regarding avalanches. In fact, snow has fallen heavily over the past two weeks, causing these natural accidents on multiple occasions.
The weekend of January 4 and 5, 2025 was no exception to the rule.

On Saturday January 4, early in the afternoon according to France Bleu, a man was slightly injured when a cornice broke in the Pointe d'Anterne sector.
While he was off-piste, he fell 150 meters before being rescued by the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).
An avalanche in the Aiguilles Rouges sector
The same day, an avalanche swept away a skier at the Col du Reverbère, in the Aiguilles Rouges sector. As our colleagues report, he was not buried and suffered slight injuries.
No injuries in Chatel
On Sunday January 5, a new avalanche was triggered in the Chatel area. According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, it was in the Linga sector that the natural disaster took place, when a ski hiker passed by.
