Jean-Jacques Goldman certainly saved “Taratata”.
And the show “Taratata”.
We do not discover that Jean-Jacques Goldman is a generous man and artist. Recently, he came back into the news because he wrote a song for a class of young students for a show about the resistance. For years, he was one of the pillars of the Enfoirés, writing the first anthem at the request of Coluche. All the artists who talk about him have nothing but good things to say about him, whether it’s Grégoire or Patrick Fiori. Nagui is no exception to the rule. We already knew that JJG had composed the soundtrack for “Taratata” but his investment went much further, as the host recounted in a documentary broadcast during the show “8:30 p.m. on Sunday”. He told how he had saved Jean-Jacques Goldman had saved the show when it started in 1993 from the second one.
“We have an artist who cancels. They have already planned to put on a TV film as a replacement from the second show. We are ridiculous. When I ask Jean-Jacques to come and save us, he tells me: ‘Look, I have already do the credits, you’re asking too much of me!’ 36 hours later, it’s 2 a.m., he calls me and says: ‘Have you found anyone?’ I said, ‘No, obviously I didn’t find anyone.’ He said to me: ‘If I come alone with my guitar, is that okay?’ There are tears coming to your eyes.”
The singer did even better than that since he came on the set of “Taratata” with Michael Jones and Carole Fredericks and not just with his guitar. Nagui didn’t know how to thank him.
“He felt that I was really in trouble, and he took it even further than anyone could imagine.”
This really says a lot about the generosity of the character. An anecdote which says what Jean-Jacques Goldman really is, a man of extreme generosity… It is not for nothing that he remains the favorite personality of the French even though we no longer see him on front of the stage…
