Metallica joins The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish as artists in the Fortnite game’s Festival mode.

Metallica will perform a virtual concert in Fortnite for the game’s “Festival” mode (which resembles a kind of Guitar Hero), video game developer Epic Games announced on Wednesday.

The group’s concert, called ” Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury. “, will be an opportunity for the group to perform six songs in the game, Epic said, and the concerts will take place on June 22 and 23. Fans will have six opportunities to see the show, at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Metallica joins The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish, who have been the featured artist at the Fortnite Festival since the game’s launch in late 2023. “Festival” mode, developed by the company behind the games Guitar Hero and Rock Band, is Fortnite’s biggest push into the world of music so far. When Metallica’s Fortnite collaboration launches, several of the band’s songs, including ” Enter Sandman “, ” Master of Puppets ” And ” Ride The Lightning ”, can be played in the game.

Beyond the concert, as part of Season 4, Fortnite players will be able to take part in Metallica-themed quests and obtain collectibles themed around the band, including outfits. The game also introduces a new game mode called Battle Mode which will remain in place after the end of Season 4.

Prior to the launch of its Festival, the game hosted numerous virtual concerts from popular artists over the past few years, starting with Marshmello and Travis Scott in 2019 and 2020. Scott’s viral show, in particular, helped popularize concerts in video games and paved the way for Fortnite concerts by artists such as Ariana Grande, J Balvin and Kaskade, among others.
