Finnish symphonic metal pioneers Nightwish have released a new track titled An Ocean Of Strange Islands, a preview of their highly anticipated tenth studio album Yesterwynde, which will be released on September 20th via Nuclear Blast. The single, marked by massive riffs and epic orchestrations, showcases the vocal power of Floor Jansen, offering fans a new dive into the band’s signature world.
A Taste of Yesterwynde
An Ocean Of Strange Islands is the third single from the album Yesterwynde. In a recent statement, the band’s keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen explained that this song embodies the essence of the band. “This song transports you with its heaviness, its imposing guitars and its grandiose orchestrations”he commented. “This is classic Nightwish at its best.”
The track is accompanied by a lyric video, inviting listeners on an epic musical journey through “strange islands,” a metaphor for a voyage of discovery and adventure. “This title reminds us that happiness is always greater when it is shared”add Holopainen.

An internationally acclaimed career
Since their debut in 1996, Nightwish have sold over ten million albums worldwide and have received over 60 gold and platinum records. Their collaboration with Nuclear Blast dates back to 2004 with the release of the successful album Once. In 2020, the band released their latest album, Human. :II: Nature., which was a huge commercial success, reaching number one in Finland and Germany.
