Ukrainian progressive metalcore band Jinjer have released a hard-hitting second single, titled Rogue, which continues their commitment to peace amidst war in their homeland. The intense track hints at the imminent release of a new album, following 2021’s acclaimed Wallflowers.

Rogue: A strong message against the occupation

With Rogue, Jinjer returns to their djent roots, combining staccato riffs with the powerful, raspy vocals of singer Tatiana Shmayluk. The track directly evokes the ravages of invasion and occupation, with striking lyrics such as “And his order has become their thought” and “We are forcefully put on his map, War-drum always rattles.”

This text, crying out for truth, will certainly resonate with the fans of the group, but also with the many metalheads across the world, affected by the situation in Ukraine.

The group states: “Our new single Rogue is a reaction to a lot of things… It’s brutally honest, extremely direct and one of the most intense tracks Jinjer have ever released.”

A turning point after Someone’s Daughter

Before Rogue, Jinjer had already caused a sensation with the release of Someone’s Daughter on August 2, 2024, a single that marked their return since Wallflowers. More melodic, this track describes the story of a young woman swept away by war. Through poignant lyrics, Shmayluk depicts the transformation imposed by the conflict, where ordinary civilians are forced to become fighters.

The music video for Someone’s Daughter is equally captivating, showing the singer embodying iconic female figures such as Cleopatra, Marie Curie and Joan of Arc, all symbols of strength and resilience. This powerful visual reinforces the emotional impact of the song and shows a different side of Jinjer.

Towards a new album…

These two singles, Rogue and Someone’s Daughter, available via Napalm Records, show a continued evolution of the band’s sound and themes, skillfully blending Progressive Metal with powerful political and social messages.

Although the exact release date of the album has not yet been announced, fans can expect to discover the next opus by the end of the year. Between tours and recordings abroad, Jinjer continues to brave the hardships imposed by the war to offer intense and meaningful music.
