The trial of a 22-year-old man, accused of killing his grandmother in Caluire-et-Cuire in 2021, opens this Tuesday, September 10 at the Rhône assizes.

This is a trial that opens for three days at the Rhône Assize Court. A young man, aged 22, is accused of having killed his grandmother in Caluire-et-Cuire, in the Lyon metropolitan area in 2021, then of having hidden her body in the woods. Facts to which he has admitted.

The body was transported with a wheelbarrow

Marguerite Mouton, 86 years old and resident of Caluire-et-Cuire, was killed during the night of November 27 to 28, 2021. It was her son, worried about not having heard from his mother for several days, who alerted the police.

At his home, the police found no one, only traces of blood that had been cleaned up. His grandson, who was staying with his grandmother at the time, was searched for and found in Paris. He quickly confessed to the facts.

It was at this point, according to Le Progrès, that he explained that he had hidden the body in a bag and transported it with a wheelbarrow through the streets of Caluire-et-Cuire to throw it in a wood near his home.

The main issue at the trial will be to understand the motivations behind the young man’s actions. Was it an argument that went wrong? Personal problems or a financial dispute? It will be a “hearing around the psychology of the accused”, a lawyer close to the case explained to BFM Lyon.
