Tuttosport: Milan could have bought Real Madrid playmaker on ‘favourable terms’

-

A report has suggested that AC Milan could have secured Brahim Diaz on a permanent basis from Real Madrid but that the club decided not to do so.

Brahim spent three years on loan at Milan from 2020 to 2023, with an initial one-year loan then followed by a two-year spell, but he returned to the Spanish capital last summer and has since kicked on to be an important player under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard has always expressed his gratitude to Milan for the role that they played in his development but he never hid a desire to one day go back to Los Blancos and achieve his dream of playing for his boyhood club.

Tuttosport have published an article about the dismantling of Milan’s 2021-22 Scudetto-winning side, and they remark that Pierre Kalulu and Sandro Tonali have now left who were pillars of the side, as were Franck Kessie and Alexis Saelemaekers.

They add an interesting piece about Brahim Diaz, stating that he ‘was not bought out despite there being excellent chances of doing so on favourable terms’, suggesting that there was a negotiation to be had with Real Madrid but that the option was taken not to.

There was no option to buy clause ever mentioned in the official communications, though many reports said that there was one in Milan’s favour but also a buy-back in Real’s favour.
