Announcements are multiplying these days from Marvel Studios…

Since the announcement of the return of Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers, things finally seem to be moving in the right direction on the Marvel Studios side.

The Hollywood Reporter now reports that the fourth installment of the Spider-Man adventures (still starring Tom Holland in the title role) would be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who would thus succeed Jon Watts.

Cretton is obviously known for having made Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on behalf of Marvel. He was also attached to direct the film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for a while, before the studio was forced to change its game plan after years of creative stagnation and commercial failure.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will return to write.

While no potential release date has been announced at this time, production on the film could still begin as early as early 2025.

Both in live action and animated form, Spider-Man remains popular with the general public, while Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had managed to accumulate a tidy sum exceeding 690 million dollars at the global box office last year, while Spider-Man: No Way Homereleased in 2021, had broken records and generated revenues of more than $1.926 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios’ next film production, Captain America: Brave New Worldis scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
