The Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) carried out a major operation, neutralizing a network of armed traffickers and seizing 277.5 kg of Indian hemp on the beaches of Rufisque and Petit-Mbao. This intervention, carefully planned after an infiltration and rigorous surveillance, made it possible to put a stop to a major drug trafficking network.
Informed of an imminent landing, OCRTIS agents deployed a device on the targeted beaches. Around 3 a.m., two canoes docked, escorted by individuals armed with sabers and rifles, and traveling on motorcycles. Two vehicles approached to collect the cargo, triggering the intervention of the police.
Despite the warnings, the traffickers tried to flee, initiating a chase on the national highway. During this pursuit, a woman driving a vehicle attempted to block the police, allowing a convoy to escape. Faced with warning shots, one of the bikers fled after being injured.
Investigations made it possible to identify a car dealership and a body shop involved in the network. A driver recruited to transport the drugs was arrested on January 1, 2025, his confession leading law enforcement to a hideout in Cambérène. At the scene, a woman was arrested and a large quantity of drugs was seized, including 277.5 kg of Indian hemp packaged in sisal bags and plastic bags.
-Subsequently, a recruiter was arrested at his home in Parcelles Assainies, after having contacted the driver to organize the accounting of the stocks sold.
The suspects, including four women, face several charges: “criminal association, drug trafficking, money laundering, possession of weapons without authorization, refusal to comply with violence and endangering the lives of police officers. » This operation demonstrates OCRTIS’ commitment to fighting drug trafficking and protecting citizens.
