Becoming familiar with books and reading is important from a young age. The “Prevention of illiteracy from preschool” association received the Citizenship Prize from the City of Neuchâtel and a check for 2,500 francs at the beginning of December. It has existed since 2005. “It comes from the association ‘Read and Write’,” explains president Ariane Dreyer in “La Matinale” this Monday. “Three of my fellow trainers realized that their learners’ children were also experiencing difficulties at school,” she continues. The association’s volunteers organize numerous reading activities for little ones throughout the year in the city of Neuchâtel, but also elsewhere in the canton. And it’s important to start so young, according to Ariane Dreyer. “It’s giving a taste, the pleasure of books and reading,” notes the president of the “Prevention of illiteracy from preschool” association.

The “Prevention of illiteracy from preschool” association is always looking for volunteers. Their profile: loving children! Find more information about the association here. /sma-lgn
