Day One – A Great Start to the Continuation of the Horror Saga

The new movie A Quiet Place: Day 1 is coming to theaters in the United States, and its start is promising.

Without a sound: day 1the sequel to the monster war launched by John Krasinski in 2018, has just arrived in theaters. If this new opus, too wise and anonymous, did not convince the editorial staff of Ecran Large, it is clear that it knew how to intrigue American spectators. This is evidenced by the start across the Atlantic of the film directed by Michael Sarnoski, with Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn.

Without a sound horrifies the US box office

Indeed, during its opening weekend, Without a sound: day 1 raised around $53 million in more than 3,700 theaters across the United States. It’s a good performance for the horror thriller, especially since industry estimates did not exceed 50 million in revenue. The film directed by Michael Sarnoski therefore marks the best start of the three opuses of the saga, ahead of 50 million Without a sound and the 47 million Without a sound 2 (without taking into account inflation).

Also, Jour 1 was not not far from taking the lead in the weekend scoressince the juggernaut Vice-versa 2 beat it by not even 5 million in revenue. Note that the production budget of This new opus, estimated at 67 million dollars according to Varietyis much closer to that of the second part of the franchise (61 million) than to that of the first (17 million).

“Shh, let’s not cry victory too soon!”

To see if Jour 1 will manage to stay the course and surpass the 160 million domestic receipts and the 297 million collected worldwide by Without a sound 2, during the COVID period. While waiting to find out more, let’s remember that the film directed by Michael Sarnoski brings together in its cast, alongside Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn, the excellent Alex Wolff (Heredity, Old) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, Rebel Moon). A Quiet Place: Day 1 is available in our French cinemas since June 26.
