In two films, this double comedy has created a solid fanbase, and one of its two main actors has revived the idea of a sequel.

There are sequels that we will never see, but for which a small flame still remains in the hearts of fans. Spider-man 4was to be Sam Raimi’s ultimate opus, to make up for episode 3, but was abandoned due to lack of time. Kill Bill: Volume 3 has always been on Tarantino’s mind, but has very little chance of seeing the light of day, given that his next film will be his last. Green Lantern 2 should have… ah no, no one is waiting for that one.

In short, there are sequel projects all the time, even for films that didn’t need them. Se7en almost had a sequel for example, and we still wonder what the point of such a project would have been. However, others would obviously make sense. And this is particularly the case with this diptych whose third film has become a quasi-Arlesienne. This sequel has always intrigued fans and one of its main actors, Channing Tatum has given some hope.

In fact the head came back to life (this is false)

23 Jump Street : Aliens boogaloo

During an interview with Comicbook.comas part of the promotion of his new film To The Moonthe actor actually spoke about the 21 Jump Street. He particularly mentioned the long-awaited sequel 23 Jump Street :

“There is a draft that has been written and it is still to this day the best script I have ever read for a third film. […] You know what, I’m going to put a little luck on my side, and I’m gonna say I would love to see 23 Jump Street. I would love to do it with Jonah [Hill]and I know that Jonah Also wants to do it. We would love to be able to play together again.”

“Produce the film or.. uh”

The beacon call is made. Especially since the project pitched years ago was as unexpected as it was intriguing: the world of the two falsely young cops was going to meet… the world of Men In Black. As a reminder, the films tell the story of Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum), two police officers who must infiltrate schools by posing as students in order to dismantle criminal networks.

Even though we’ve gotten older since then 22 Jump Street (released in 2014), the fact of Mixing the two licenses would allow both actors to take on their roles without any concern for their age.. Rodney Rothman, the screenwriter of the second and third films, also tried to give a helping hand to rekindle the flame of the project.

“There is little chance, but nothing is impossible.

So, it’s not all over, but it’s still necessarily complicated. Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the directors of the first two films, are already very busy with the production of Beyond the Spider-verse and they will make the film soon Project Hail Marya science fiction film starring Ryan Gosling.

Until Jonah Hill supports the idea, we’ll have to make do with this. In the meantime, for Channing Tatum fans, it will be on display in To The Moonalongside Scarlett Johansson, in theaters July 10, 2024.
