A new superhero series has been officially announced by James Gunn, as part of his reboot of the DC Comics franchise.

The DC Comics Franchise According to James Gunn
Its battle plan will concern both feature films intended for cinemas, but also series broadcast on streaming platforms. After filming his film Superman: Legacy, James Gunn will begin production on the second season of his series Peacemaker with John Cena.
Unable to carry out everything himself, James Gunn will also supervise the other productions which will form this new connected universe. And in particular a Green Lantern spin-off series, developed by screenwriter Chris Mundy (Ozark), in collaboration with Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers) and Tom King (screenwriter of the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow).
For several years now, a Green Lantern series has been developed by Greg Berlanti (the creator of Arrow and its spin-offs). But the project was ultimately shelved following the announcement of the reboot of the DC franchise. James Gunn then decided to turn to new talents, and abandon the ideas developed by Berlanti.
A Green Lantern movie has already been made (but best forgotten)
A Green Lantern film also saw the light of day in 2011 but did not leave lasting memories for fans, nor for its main actor Ryan Reynolds. Considered one of the worst DC Comics films, particularly due to its catastrophic special effects, the feature film has a spectator rating of 2.2 out of 5 on our site.
A first official synopsis of the series entitled Lanterns has been communicated: “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and the legendary Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops faced with a dark case as they investigate a murder committed in the heart of the United States.”
Currently being written, the Lanterns series will soon be available exclusively on the new Max streaming platform.
