The young readers of the Prix Roman des Romands, which brings together classes of adolescents from all over French-speaking Switzerland each year, had voted in favor Sleeper cell by Christian Lecomte in 2021. This poignant story of a radicalized young person from a French city is now being adapted into a graphic novel. Senior reporter, collaborator of Temps, Christian Lecomte met the designer Jean-Philippe Kalonji several years ago during an article on the return to France, to Lyon precisely, of children of Daesh. Given the young age of the protagonists, only drawing could capture the extreme complexity of the issues. Impressed by the result, Christian Lecomte immediately thought of Jean-Philippe Kalonji for the graphic version of Sleeper cell, which is appearing in bookstores these days.
