“We absolutely wanted to save this special place from demolition,” says Till Rabus. He and his brother Leopold, also a renowned painter, designed and transformed this unique place together. The siblings acquired it about twenty years ago with the aim of living and working there. The immense space built in the 1930s was originally a micromechanics factory. Over the years, the place has been radically modified; a warm and ultra-comfortable house on the south side, a bright and functional workshop on the north side. Many details – including the tangle of pipes on the ceilings – have been carefully preserved, recalling the industrial origins of the place. Walls have fallen, others have been built, for a stunning result with generous volumes, where one can easily navigate from the workshop to the living areas.
