Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray will officially reprise their respective roles as Anna, Tess and Jake in the film’s sequel Freaky Friday.

And these are not the only actors who will return for the second part of this classic for teenagers, published in 2003. Mark Harmon (who played Anna’s stepfather, Ryan), Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie), Haley Hudson (Peg) and Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bates) will also be there, Disney studios announced Monday during the first day of production in Los Angeles.
Lucille Soong et Rosalind Chao will also reappear in the mother-daughter duo who own the Chinese restaurant.
The story of this second part will have a “multi-generational twist,” added Disney. Anna now has her own daughter and a future daughter-in-law. As they face countless challenges due to the merger of the two families, Tess and Anna, who swapped bodies 20 years earlier, discover that lightning might indeed strike another time.
Based on the novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers released in 1972, the film Freaky Friday, released in 2003, is the second adaptation of this same story to the cinema. The first was released in 1976, while a television version followed in 1995.
Freaky Friday 2 is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
