Iran is competing with Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), North Korea, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan in Group A of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup.

Iran won both the two consecutive games against Kyrgyzstan (home 1-0) and the UAE (away 1-0) in September.

Uzbekistan is also on the rise. Uzbekistan also beat North Korea (home 1-0) and Kyrgyzstan (away 3-2) in both consecutive games in September.

The team that wins the showdown on Oct. 10 could take a step closer to advancing to the 2026 World Cup finals in North Korea and the U.S.
